“The 3-dimensional strokes that I experienced from Jackie’s finger/hands freed up the myofascial restrictions that I had surrounding my sacrum from a recent fall. I am now able to feel a softness in my pelvic region & walk much better.”
—Meryle Richman, PT, MS, CST; Former Director of Physical Therapy at Briarcliff & Jefferson Valley PC, NY

Connective Tissue & CranioSacral Therapy

Connective Tissue Techniques®
CTT uses touch to release fascia to encourage change by affecting the autonomic nervous system. This is accomplished by carefully-applied and specifically-sequenced strokes which pull through the connective layers of tissue of the spinal column and interrelated muscle groups, joints and bony landmarks.

CTT is influenced by Bindegebbsmassage, a technique developed by Elisabeth Dicke of Germany in the early 1930’s. Irmgard Bartenieff became one of its leading American exponents, feeling it was a necessary adjunct to her Correctives materials for the treatment and prevention of injury.

CTT is helpful in the treatment of musculoskeletal and injury-related problems. It is complementary to psychotherapy, dance, movement or other body therapies.

What does Connective Tissue Techniques® offer?
Treatment can provide:
  • A harmony and balance of the autonomic nervous system
  • Relief of stress and anxiety
  • Prevention of scarring following surgery or injury
  • Improved circulation
  • Improved alertness and energy
  • Increased oxygenation of the tissues
  • Improvement of posture
  • Lowering of blood pressure
  • Increased flexibility and range of motion
  • Aid in elimination of waste and toxins
  • An increased sense of well-being

There are many additional therapeutic responses and beneficial changes which can help to strengthen your immune system and keep you healthy.

CTT is specially beneficial in conjunction with LMA and BF.

CranioSacral Therapy
CST is a gentle, non invasive hands on technique for balancing the CranioSacral System and for supporting your body in achieving optimal health. Jackie lightly places her hands on your clothed body to evaluate and treat. She feels your CranioSacral Rhythm (the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid affecting your fascia) through her hands to determine where you may have restrictions that reduce your body’s capacity for health. “Cranio” refers to the head (the cranium) and “sacral” to the sacrum, a triangular bone at the base of the spinal column. Even though the work is on the CST system, in feeling the rhythm from the head to the sacrum to the head again the technique affects the whole body.

How can it help me?
This technique is beneficial in many ways. Jackie personally feels more mobile, more flexible, more balanced, and calmer after her own session. Her vision is clearer. She feels more grounded and if she had any aches and pains, she usually hurts less.  When in a car accident and whip lashed on her way to give a colleague CST, she was instead given a treatment, calming down her overwrought nervous system and dispelling any trauma to neck muscles, brain, and who knows what other organs and systems, before trauma could set in and take hold. The session probably saved Jackie weeks of pain, or discomfort at the least, because she was able to receive CST within 45 minutes of the accident.

CST doesn’t work just on the brain and spine, as you might think from its name. Treatment has been shown to positively affect many conditions that do involve the head and spine such as:
  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • TMJ
  • Neck and back pain
  • Autism
  • Head injuries
  • Brain injuries
  • Dyslexia
  • Nervous system problems
  • Organ problems

It addresses minor irritants and acute and serious chronic dysfunctions. It is viable for all ages. Infants and seniors respond positively to CST.

CST helps balance your nervous system and the fluid systems in your body by promoting and encouraging circulation. Jackie has seen blood pressure lowered after a CST session. It is effective in alleviating symptoms of stress, tension, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It reduces inflammation and can be helpful in acute infections by lowering high temperatures. It brings balance to all systems of the body.

If you have ever experienced some sort of trauma (and who hasn’t?), SER is EXCELLENT in reducing, if not eliminating, problems that arose from trauma, and in preventing the onset of deep seated trauma if you are fortunate to be treated close to the time of the incident. The body stores pain because it can’t process it all as the pain is happening; it’s just too much. This stored pain can produce all sorts of disruption and problems to the body’s systems. CST/SER allows the body to release and process that pain, sometimes stored for years, so not only can CST/SER positively affect you physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.
