Movement as Bodywork and Somatic TherapyAll bodywork involves movement, the movement of the therapist, and movement within the client’s body. A good bodyworker finds the movement or lack of movement in the various tissues of your body according to her/his training and works with you and your body to bring you to optimum health. As a Movement Analyst and Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist, Jackie look at how your body presents itself in moving.
Are your habitual movement choices working for you and are they part of the reason you came for a session? Does the context in which you move support you movement and does your personal movement style or pattern fit the context? Are you creating much of your pain by how you are moving? According to your individual needs and capabilities, Jackie introduces small and/or large ways for you to move that will provide change and could provide relief. Retiring last year after decades at a desk job, my body was generally stiff with limited flexibility and a lot of aches and pains. After few sessions with Jackie my movement was much freer than it had been in years and the aches and pains were gone. Amazing! Now a periodic “tune-up” session works out the kinks when I over do and things need to be put back in order. Thank you, Jackie!
